St Austell Bay

Located in the heart of the glorious Cornish Riviera, St Austell Bay shelters the little sandy coves of Porthpean, Duporth and Polkerris, the beautiful harbour village of Charlestown and the popular resort of Carlyon Bay.

Inland the market town of St Austell provides a cinema, ten pin bowling, shops, cafés and restaurants.  Only a few miles from the coast you’ll find Cornwall’s most popular visitor attraction - the world famous Eden Project.  Marvel at the construction of the mighty domes, enjoy the tasty, freshly baked food and drink and of course explore the multitude of plants, gardens and educational displays around the site.

Well worth a visit is the lovely little village of Charlestown, its scenic Georgian harbour, complete with impressive old sailing ships, often used in film and television series such as Poldark and Treasure Island.

The area is a haven for watersports, with sailing being a popular pursuit in the bay.  Why not have a go yourself!  With major Regattas a regular occurrence and hire plentiful, opportunities abound along this scenic stretch of coastline.

A perfect paradise for plant lovers - blessed not only with the delights of the Eden Project, the pretty seashore, wooded hills and beautiful countryside, but also The Lost Gardens of Heligan.  In the early 1990s its 200 acres were carefully restored to their former glory and Heligan now takes its place as one of the finest gardens in Cornwall.

The biggest brewery in Cornwall is right in the town; St Austell Brewery is definitely worth a visit, providing a museum and an interesting tour (not forgetting the beer tasting!).

For the whole family, Cornish Market World and Kidzworld provides a whole host of activities for kids including; dodgems, mini-golf, skytrail, climbing wall and ball pool and much more plus the South West’s biggest indoor market.

If you venture a little further along the coast you’ll find the picturesque fishing ports of Fowey in one direction and Mevagissey in the other.
