St Austell Bay Cottages
St Austell is a holiday destination that throws a surprise from every corner, just when you think you have seen it all, something else pops up. It is that kind of place. St Austell is one of the largest towns in Cornwall and has long been a hub for tourists and residents, creating a very friendly atmosphere. The town itself is just a short drive or walk depending on your preference (walking for me!) from the Cornish Riviera coastline and the golden sands that entice so many visitors.
In the town centre you will find a good choice of shops, and I would recommend a visit to White River Place Shopping Centre, if you are looking for a bargain on your travels. Just outside the town centre you will find some great attractions. The largest, most notable attraction in St Austell and in fact Cornwall is the Eden Project. There are two covered biomes; The Tropical Biome and The Mediterranean Biome which replicate the natural climate from these areas of the world. This attraction is a must see if you are in the area. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are also just outside St Austell and many consider them to be the best botanical gardens in the UK.
St Austell Bay is a popular spot for beach lovers, and there is a fantastic atmosphere down by the bay, and the nearby St Austell Port, in the charming harbour of Charlestown. The two are linked by the South West Coast Path, which winds its way throughout Devon and Cornwall.
Or why not stay in a cottage for one of the two summer festivals in St Austell. The annual St Austell Carnival is always an action-packed fun-filled hullaballoo of a day. The Fowey Regatta on the other hand, is a much calmer event, unless the seas decide otherwise.
