St Ives has to be one of Cornwall’s premier destinations - a seaside town where visitors flock to enjoy a traditional beach holiday with a twist. Artists love the town for its stunning scenery and the quality of the light, and one of only four Tate Galleries is located here.
You could lose yourself for hours in the charming little back-streets which wind here and there, and are crammed with gift and craft shops, art galleries and welcoming local pubs - a real treasure trove just waiting to be discovered! You could also visit the local museum, offering an insight into how life was in the town in years gone by, when the pace of life was slower and the main industries included fishing and boat-building.
St Ives has four lovely sandy beaches, between them offering miles of golden sand and hours of family-friendly fun. Dogs are welcomed out of season.
You can take a boat trip from the harbour and explore the coastline from the water, giving you a chance to see the local wildlife up close. One such trip is to Seal Island - see if you can guess what animals you may spot there!
If you’re staying out of town, a great way to come for a day trip is on a Park and Ride with a difference! Park at St Erth station and take the train along the coast into the town, allowing you to take in the spectacular scenery along the way.
