Explore Carbis Bay...

Many people think of Carbis Bay as a part of St Ives, however they are actually separate, and while you could of course spend a fair bit of time in St Ives, you’ll find that Carbis Bay has several notable attractions of its own, particularly if you want to avoid the busier spots and head somewhere that offers a peaceful break away.  You could even leave the car behind and reach it by train.

The beach is excellent for small children, as the sea is generally calm in most places, so is relatively safe for youngsters to go paddling.  Dogs are welcome in winter, or in the early mornings during the main season.  

Bird watchers can flock to the RSPB bird sanctuary at nearby Porth Kidney beach, where many species of sea bird have their home.  The area also offers many lovely walks, both gentle strolls and more taxing hikes, and when you reach the end you will have earned yourself a cream tea or a meal in one of the fine selection of pubs and restaurants the area has to offer.

For adrenaline junkies, there is The Ocean Sports Centre, where you can have a go at several water-sports, including stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking or snorkelling.  They offer lessons and the chance to hire equipment.  Go for it!
