Beaches in Polruan
Polruan Quay Beach and Back Beach
These two tiny sandy beaches are located either side of the quay in this little port and all but vanish at high tide. The water is generally safe for swimming but as the port and the estuary are very popular and busy with boats care must be taken.
Parking: Parking is limited in Polruan – the car parks are right at the top of the village.
Toilets: Located in the village.
Facilities: Shops and pubs.
Safety: No lifeguard cover.
Dogs: Dogs are not allowed on either beach at any time of year, although we would always advise checking this before you arrive.
Readymoney Cove
A secluded sandy cove just outside of Fowey. Provides safe swimming as the sheltered bay is a boat free area. The estuary itself is popular with sailing and all kinds of other boats making the most of the scenic estuary. There are tidal rockpools to explore and a bathing platform moored in the bay.
Parking: Small car park near to the beach.
Toilets: Near the beach.
Facilities: Seasonal ice cream van but only about half a mile from the centre of Fowey.
Dogs: Dogs are banned throughout July and August between the hours of 10am-6pm, although we would always advise checking this before you arrive.
Lantic Bay
If you’re looking for a bit of adventure and somewhere a little quieter then Lantic Bay is the place for you. This stunning beach is somewhat of a hike but is well worth the journey. It’s less busy than most beaches due to its remoteness and tricky access (via the coastal footpath then down a steep cliff path). The views are breathtaking - the turquoise water and white sand framed by the impressive cliffs won’t disappoint.
Parking: Car parks are about a 20 minute walk away.
Toilets: None at the beach.
Facilities: None.
Dogs: Dogs allowed all year round, although we would always advise checking this before you arrive.
