Helford Area Cottages
The Helford area is one of the most beautiful parts of the country, full of wildlife, secluded coves and idyllic woods. The beautiful tree-lined river wends its way to the coast, with little villages and hamlets such as Helford Passage, Durgan, Mawnan and St Anthony-in-Meneage dotted along the estuary and boats moored in the quiet inlets along the riverbanks.
The tranquillity of the area is unspoilt despite its popularity with visitors. You could easily spend your holiday walking the footpaths that crisscross the countryside and enjoying the local village pubs. Should you want to try something else, the subtropical paradise of Trebah Garden is situated on the northern bank of the river. This stunning garden is famed for its colourful array of exotic plants – able to thrive here due to the warm climate enjoyed by this part of Cornwall. Just a few miles away is the Gweek Seal Sanctuary, where you can visit seal pups who have been rescued and rehabilitated before their release back onto the wild.
