Helford Area Beaches
There's so many small beaches and picture-postcard coves along the Helford River that it's near enough impossible to list them all! Here's a few of the more noteworthy:
Helford Passage Beach
Located on the northern shore of the picturesque Helford River is the sand and shingle beach of Helford Passage. Commonly known as Bar beach or Gate beach.
Safety: No lifeguard cover
Dogs: Dogs allowed all year
Facilities: The beach is overlooked by the Ferry Boat Inn. There is also a shop and toilets.
Parking: Parking can be difficult and it is probably best to park and walk.
Bosahan Cove
Bosahan Cove is a small, secluded cove which backs on to the ancient woodland of the Bosahan estate. With views of the yachts sailing in the calm estuary, it really is the most tranquil place to unwind.
Safety: No lifeguard cover
Dogs: Dogs allowed
Parking: The nearest car parking is in Helford village just over a mile away. In the other direction you can park at St Anthony which is a similar distance. Alternatively, during the summer you can visit the Bosahan Estate and use the parking here (admission charged).
Grebe Beach
Situated just a short walk from the village of Durgan is the beautiful Grebe beach. The beach is accessed via a fairly steep path meaning that it’s rarely crowded.
Safety: No lifeguard cover
Dogs: Dogs allowed
Parking: There is a National Trust car park at the top of the valley which is a half mile walk from the beach.
Polgwidden Cove
Polgwidden Cove, also known as Trebah beach, is situated at the foot of the valley in which Trebah Gardens lie. The beach is privately owned but open to the public. Please note access is quite difficult unless entering through Trebah Gardens.
Safety: No lifeguard cover
Dogs: Dogs allowed all year
Facilities: Café at Trebah Gardens
Parking: There are several car parks in the area at Helford Passage, Trebah Garden, Glendurgan Garden and Bosloe.
