Lerryn Cottages

Located on a tributary to the River Fowey, Lerryn is a historical village with structures dating back as far as the late 13th Century.

It is a beautiful un-spoilt village at the tidal limit of one of the creeks of the River Fowey and it is said to have some of the loveliest river scenery in Cornwall. The vista changes constantly with the tide and the tranquility is disturbed only by the birds and the occasional boat. The ducks are so tame they can be fed from the hand. The sixteenth century bridge crosses the river just upstream from the stepping stones which provide an alternative crossing at low tide.

From the stepping stones, a path leads to a beautiful walk through the National Trust's Ethy Wood and on to St Winnow - a tiny riverside hamlet with a lovely waterside church. Within Lerryn, there is a general store and post office. The Ship Inn is the popular village pub which serves good food. From Lerryn it is about 15 minutes drive to the beaches on the south coast at Lantic Bay and Lansallos. It is 20 minutes to Bodmin Moor and 15 minutes to Fowey using the Bodinnick car ferry. Many of Cornwall's fine gardens, houses and attractions are easily reached from Lerryn.
