Newquay Zoo has a range of discovery trails throughout the year including a 5am dawn adventure to see the animals wake up and feed them breakfast. As the first gold award Green Tourism Business Scheme winner in Cornwall, this friendly environmental park encourages the family to leave the car at home and explore their surroundings on foot.
The zoo is slap bang in the middle of The Newquay Discovery Trail where you can explore the interactive maps before your holiday and follow the cryptic clues on the engraved slate discs when you arrive to discover Newquay's best kept secrets. It may be best known for its surfing lifestyle, Cornish pasties and cream teas, but Newquay is also rich in rare species of plants and birds and boasts a diverse cultural, maritime and mining history.
Round your day off in the Leisure Park with a spot of crazy golf or pitch and putt, a ride on the mini railway, or wander through the glorious gardens. With a skate park, riding stables and miniature lake topped with pedalos, it provides an activity-filled day of delights.
What’s more, Newquay’s Waterworld is also located here, featuring a swimming pool, children’s fun pool with flumes, and fitness centre/classes should the urge take you. Then there’s amusement heavyweight, Camel Creek Adventure Park, a sprawling 111-acre theme park boasting a huge indoor play area, 35 acres of outdoor play, park rides, animals, events and live shows.
