Cornwall has something of a reputation for fine food and dining. Eating out

There are plenty of great restaurants in Cornwall, although sometimes many of them may get overshadowed by the big names of Jamie Oliver, Nathan Outlaw and Rick Stein, who all have restaurants on the north coast. Other places to eat worthy of a mention include The Olive Tree, St Merryn, Warne's Bar & Restaurant in Wadebridge and Little Kahuna Restaurant in Newquay. The café at Eden is worth a stop too – like many of Cornwall’s better restaurants they use all local ingredients and grow much of it themselves. Eating in

If your idea of heaven is shopping for fresh local ingredients and cooking them up in the comfort of your own private holiday cottage then you will love Cornwall as much as our top chefs do. That’s because it’s all here, and it’s cherished as much by the locals as the beaches and waves are. Cornwall is a foodie destination that’s for sure and there are always farmers’ markets food festivals and fetes where you can pick up some Cornish Yarg cheese, a tub of clotted cream or some home grown veg. Or you could always hang about by the quayside at high tide and grab some fresh fish straight off the boat. You can’t get fresher than that!

Wine and vineyard tours

The climate is milder here than anywhere else in the country, allowing grapes to be grown and glorious wine to be made!

• Trevibban Mill Vineyard & Orchards- Located about a five minutes’ drive from Padstow, a trip to Trevibban Mill is a must for anyone visiting the area. The stylish wine bar and tasting room enjoys stunning views across the valley and is the perfect place for lunch or simply relaxing and sampling a glass or two of award winning Cornish wine.
• Bosue Vineyard, near St Austell - Visit Bosue Vineyard on our organised Open Days for wine tastings and tours. After a walk through the vines and an explanation of how we make the wines, you can then taste our Cornish Wines overlooking the Vineyard, in the beautiful setting of the Cornish countryside.
• Camel Valley Vineyard, near Bodmin - Tasting wines and seeing how they are made is great fun at Camel Valley. Our unique tours are relaxed and friendly and the location is stunning; sitting on the terrace sipping Camel Valley wine on a summer's afternoon is magical.
• Knightor Winery and Restaurant, near St Austell - Fun and informative in a traditional Cornish farmstead. Gain an insight into the world of wine. If you have been exploring sustainability in agriculture at the Eden Project, you will be able to see how a commercial operation works with it.
• Polmassick Vineyard, near St Austell - Vineyard offering Cornish wines - dry, medium dry, dessert, and sparkling. Try Polmassick Murayn, Kea Plum Dessert wine, Gwynkemysky White Wine, Shute Suent and White Seyval Blanc with flowery bouquet.

Brewery and cider tours

• St Austell Brewery Visitor Centre, St Austell - Take a tour around Cornwall's oldest independent family Brewery, established for over 150 years. Many original traditions and skills remain at the heart of our beers today. Follow the brewing process from raw ingredients through to sampling.
• Skinners Brewery, Truro - Situated in the beautiful cathedral city of Truro, our working brewery runs tours for groups or individuals. Sample our award winning range of famous Cornish cask-conditioned ales, each of which is named after characters from Cornish folklore.
• Healey's Cornish Cyder Farm, near Perranporth - All visitors are welcome to take a free, self guided tour of the press house, bottlery and jam kitchen. For a complete experience we would recommend a full guided tour by one of our knowledgeable members of staff.

Chocolate

Cornwall has many small, independent chocolate companies; it's only fair to give them all a go! To see chocolates being made in front of your eyes, visit Trenance Chocolate shop and factory near Helston or even, Kernow Chocolate Visitor Centre in St Eval, near Wadebridge.

• Killock Farm Shop, Kilkhampton, near Bude - their own/local seasonal vegetables, meats and fish, pasties, quiches & cakes from own bakery
• Trevilley Farm Shop, near Newquay - own beef, lamb, vegetables, turkeys, geese, duck eggs. Own jams, marmalades, chutneys, pickles, pasties, pies, quiches, sausage rolls, cake and much more
• Carruan Farm, Polzeath - livestock farm where you can tour the farm and buy their own and local produce
