Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature

The Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature has grown to become a firm favourite on the cultural scene and the flagship of literary festivals in Cornwall. The 2019 festival will take place between 10th - 18th May.
History
Founded 20 years ago, it was originally called the du Maurier Festival after the author who penned many novels including Rebecca, Jamaica Inn and Frenchman's Creek. Fowey has been home to not only Daphne, but authors Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch and Wind In The Willows author, Kenneth Grahame as well.
As the festival grew and expanded it incorporated many other types of literature and creative media and so became the Fowey Festival of Arts and Literature.
2019 festival
This year’s festival is set to be a real treat with a fantastic and enticing range of events.
With everything you would expect: writing workshops, presentations and interviews with philosophers, authors, politicians and college professors, reading groups, conversations about music and composers as well as all sorts of live bands, history tours and talks and discussions on a variety of topics from economics to Medieval Literature.
Then there are one or two things that perhaps you were not expecting! Workshops on everything from harp playing and singing to book binding, calligraphy and quilt making! Comedy and entertainment and, for the foodies, there are several culinary events taking place!
Throughout the festival week there will be many guided walks taking place. From literary and history walks to hedgerow foraging, this is an excellent way to understand the stunning area that inspired so many creative minds, and to explore the dramatic beauty that continues to inspire today.
