Live Music In Cornwall

Innumerable artists, poets and musicians thrive in the towns and villages throughout Cornwall. Perhaps it’s the stunning landscape that provides the inspiration, or maybe there’s something in the water!  Whatever the reason, Cornwall is blessed with more than its fair share of creative types!

Fortunately for us, there’s no need to visit each village in search of a lively jig, shanty or concert.  Throughout the year, musicians from Cornwall, the South West and sometimes further afield, congregate at different festivals and events to delight our senses with their music!

Food and ale festivals often go hand in hand with the music ones and you won’t find a music festival that doesn’t also indulge the taste buds too!

Cornwall Folk Festival - August

This year’s line-up boasted the talents of Gretchen Peters, Eddi Reader and countless other performers, artists and buskers - the weekend was pure music heaven!  With an obvious focus on folk, there were countless other genres mixed into the blend, making for a joyful weekend for all.

Many visitors enjoyed just wandering round the independent shops, absorbing the atmosphere of the buskers and performers.  Whether you just soak up the mood or book tickets for one of main performances, the event is one of Cornwall’s best.

Looe Music Festival/Looe Saves The Day – September

Running for many years, sadly in 2018 the festival was cancelled.

However, the townsfolk of Looe are not easily deterred and are putting on their own community-led festival “Looe Saves The Day”!  Scores of bands are performing free of charge at the event, which has been funded and organised by the people and businesses of Looe.

We have no doubt they will do an amazing job and put on a great show!

St Ives September Festival – September

Every September, the beautiful town of St Ives reverberates to the sounds of Celtic, blues and folk music.  Always full of an amazing range of talent, this year’s highlights will be Seth Lakeman and The Fisherman’s Friends, to name a couple.

With free events all round the town, as well as the paid concerts, there are loads of other things going on; art exhibitions, workshops, theatre and even yoga!

Henry’s Little Big Gig – September

An amazing 3 day music and ale festival held on the spectacular Lizard peninsula, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the most southerly point of mainland Britain.

A family festival with loads happening, there’s workshops, jamming sessions, dance and arts and crafts.  There’s even thatching!

And you’re more than welcome to bring along your own instruments and completely immerse yourself in the fun!

Proms at the Minack – September

The Mount Charles Band and friends bring the spirit of the Proms to the magnificent setting of the Minack Theatre.

You can wave your flags and join in with the incredible atmosphere whilst perched high on the cliffs above Porthcurno, the Atlantic Ocean a fitting backdrop for the rousing music!

Incredible ambience in a truly unique place.

Bude Blues, Rhythm and Rock Festival – November

A mix of old and new, local and international and a wide variety of styles and genres - this is one festival not to be missed!

Over 3 days, you can take in some unforgettable acts from today’s blues and rock scenes as well as watch some real legends perform, including Wishbone Ash and Focus.

Remember your earplugs!

Eden Sessions - June and July

Held annually each summer, the Eden Sessions have become a phenomenal success with the likes of Elton John, Jess Glynne, Gary Barlow, Lionel Richie and Tom Jones having performed in the past.

The sessions are big news - selling out at a rate of knots!  So if you are interested in enjoying world class music, with the awe-inspiring Eden Project domes as your backdrop, you’d better get your skates on!
