Being based in Marazion allows easy access to great north coast surf as well as opportunities to catch the southern swell when it ploughs up. Here in Marazion there's also awesome Kitesurfing and Windsurfing conditions. Here's some nearby locations to hit the waves:
1. Porthleven
You need to know what you're doing at Portlevan with the best surf breaking over the reefs either side of the harbour entrance.
The water can have some strong undercurrents so it's advised that only strong swimmers use the water. Check local surf reports to asses the conditions.
2. Sennen
Cornwall's most westerly surf hotspot. Huge rollers make for great surfing opportunity and for those that just want to swim, safe marked areas are flagged. Those wanting to learn how to surf should take advantage of the excellent Sennen Surfing Centre.
With a long, sandy beach and small harbour the village combines working fishing port with laid back surf style.
3. Godrevy
Godrevey is the most exposed stretch of St Ives Bay. As a result it benefits by picking up the most swell but suffers from being affected most by the wind. Given the conditions the waves here can be epic!
4. Gwithian
A perfect beach for families or those just getting into surfing. With a regular swell it's perfect to experience all year round for surfers and when taking a break from the actions there's rockpools and caves that can be explored too.
It's also a popular destination for kitesurfing and windsurfing.
These are just some of the beaches that surround Marazion that are great for surfing. Due to the town's location, no matter which direction you choose to travel you are bound to find a beautiful beach or cove, with great swell perfect for surfing - we just thought we'd highlight some of the best!
