Marazion is a very dog-friendly town and a wonderful resort to visit with your four legged friend. Marazion sits on the South West Coast Path and ancient Pilgrims route of St Michaels Way, providing miles of wonderful coastal and moorland walking nearby. Marazion is also a perfect base for exploring West Cornwall and 'Poldark country', being only a few miles from Land’s End, St. Ives and the Lizard. All of our properties are within walking distance of Mount’s bay and St Michael’s Mount where we are fortunate to have two long sandy beaches which welcome dogs.

Town Beach, Marazion
This must be one of the finest and safest beaches in the country, dominated by the iconic castle of St Michael’s Mount. Dogs are permitted on the beach to the east of the Causeway at any time of the year (that’s on your left when looking at the castle).
Marazion Town Beach
There is a seasonal daytime dog ban from May 1st May to 30th September from 8am to 7pm on the beach that runs for 2 miles to the west of the Causeway to the village of Long Rock, so this is a great place for early risers or for an evening stroll.
You are allowed to walk across the Causeway to St Michaels Mount at low tide with your dog.
Once you reach St Michael’s Mount Island, please make sure your dog is on its lead. Dogs are welcome in the garden of the Island Cafe and there is also outdoor sitting at the Sail Loft Restaurant.
Whilst you cannot take your dog into the grounds of the castle, you can still experience the wonder of the island and its magnificent harbour setting.
The Town Beach can be accessed from the Godolphin steps or the Gwelva, which is the middle ferry landing accessed by the small footpath between Morva Gift Shop and The Rigging clothing store. Walk down the Gwelva steps and you can access a sandy beach to the right of the landing and a pebbly beach to the left. If you go on the pebbly beach and make your way to the small harbour at Top Tieb, and around the rocky headland with a small white turret you will arrive at Steps Beach.
Steps Beach, Marazion
Steps Beach
To the East of Marazion Harbour at ‘Top Tieb’ is a ½ mile long sandy dog friendly beach that can’t be seen from the road and is therefore a well kept secret. Dogs are welcome on Steps Beach all year around, and it is much favoured by locals as it is always so quiet. The beach is also a delight for children with its gentle shelving sand and many rock pools at low tide.
To access Steps Beach, turn off Fore Street at the Copper Spoon café (dog friendly) and walk down Leys Lane. Half way down there is a small alleyway on the left with steps onto the beach. There is no access to the beach for 1 hour either side of high tide from the steps.
If you walk east along Steps Beach for around ½ mile you re-join the South West Coast footpath and can either follow the coast to nearby Perranuthnoe and beyond, or go back up to the road at the top end of Marazion from where there are stunning views of the Mount as you walk back down into Marazion.
