Discover St Agnes and Perranporth

When on holiday, there are so many opportunities to get out and about in Cornwall. Being lucky enough to live here, the chances are endless! Just this weekend, I took advantage of the beautiful sunny day and ventured onto the South West Coastal Path. You can start a walk from many spots in Cornwall, but, not having visited St Agnes before, I thought I’d start from there. St Agnes is a large village on the North Coast of Cornwall – very quaint and ideal for a potter about, there are little independent shops to tempt you to part with your pennies and many eateries – from a wine bar to fish and chips shops and nice cafés. 

I started my walk out from the car park down at the beach out towards Perranporth – the handy sign cited the route should be about 4 miles.  I started with a short up-hill climb up the manmade stairs – thank goodness I’d packed wisely and had water to hand! It’s the end of April and the route was fairly quiet. I passed a few dog walkers and couples who had the same idea as me…to take in the stunning scenery – the lush green countryside to my right and the crystal blue see to my left. The route was peaceful, tranquil and very picturesque. I wasn’t in a hurry so in total the walk took about 1 hour 40 mins – stopping along the way to sit on a bench and take in the views.  

The beach in Perranporth is one of my favourites – so wide with white sands. Being Bank Holiday weekend the town was buzzing with families, couples, surfers and beach vollyballers. It was a lovely atmosphere. I had a quick pit stop at The Watering Hole – the beach bar on Perranporth beach – before making my way back to St Agnes in the late afternoon sun. A great day out!
