What's on in Cornwall this February Half Term...

Cornwall is a great family destination all year round, but if you prefer to avoid too many crowds, February half term is a good time to come down.  We all know, however, that the weather can be a little unpredictable at this time of year. So we’ve put together a selection of events and activities, for young and old, fair weather or fouls.

For Adults

There is a farmers’ market every Wednesday and Saturday in Lemon Quay, Truro, selling tempting seasonal local produce, from meat and fish to bread, fruit and veg, jams and preserves.  http://www.enjoytruro.co.uk/whatson/farmersmarket

There is “A Night of Fish ’n’ Tips” from the Cornwall Good Seafood Guide and Looe Marine Conservation Group.  The speaker is Matt Slater of Cornwall Wildlife Trust, with chefs from Old Sail Loft, Pengelly's and others. 7-10pm on Friday 19th February at the Millpool Centre, West Looe. http://looemarineconservation.org/a-night-of-fish-n-tips-in-looe/

Let It Be is on at the Hall for Cornwall, Truro, from 15th - 20th February.  A “fab” piece of musical theatre showcasing the hits of The Beatles.

Porthcurno Telegraph Museum is hosting “Forgotten Wrecks of the First World War”, an exhibition highlighting the fate of around 700 ships which sank off England’s south coast during World War I.  It’s on throughout half term, and until 18th March. http://www.whatsoncornwall.co.uk/cornish-and-heritage/museums/porthcurno...

For Kids

Keep little ones and older kids entertained with loads of fun and educational activities. 

Mister Maker and The Shapes, live at the Hall for Cornwall, 13th & 14th February.  Children’s TV star Mister Maker is appearing here as part of his live tour - plenty of art-and-craft-related fun to be had!

The Wartime Winter exhibition at Porthcurno Telegraph Museum gives kids a chance to discover what it would have been like for evacuees in World War II.  Running throughout February.  http://www.primarytimes.net/cornwall/listings/wartime-winter-68851

The Monkey Sanctuary, near Looe, will be re-opening this half term, with activities designed to promote the valuable conservation work they do, and encourage kids to learn about these furry friends.  www.monkeysanctuary.org

For the whole family

For fun and activities the whole family will enjoy, look no further!

Padstow Kernow Players are performing their annual pantomime at the Little Theatre.  This year it’s Snow White and the Magnificent Seven Dwarfs.  On from 16th - 20th February.  All together now: “He’s behind you!”  http://www.padstowkernowplayers.co.uk/

The Eden Project has a wonderful range of activities for all ages this half term.  The popular children’s character Stick Man is coming to Eden.  There will be a Stick Man Trail and film shown on site, lessons on survival skills, workshops and other activities.  Go ice-skating, try out the Sky Wire zip-wire, or meet Crocodile Joe, who can introduce you to all sorts of fascinating creepy-crawlies!  Cardinham Woods, near Bodmin also has a Stick Man trail. https://www.edenproject.com/visit/whats-on/survival-stick-man-half-term
