2008 MasterChef winner James Nathan has been speaking about his love for Cornwall and how, in particular, St Ives is his holiday destination of choice.
Since appearing on BBC’s MasterChef, Nathan has gone on to work at some of the country’s best restaurants, including Michael Caines’ Michelin-starred Bath Priory and Bentley’s Oyster Bar in Piccadilly, but Cornwall is still where his heart lies.
Having opened his very own restaurant The Green Room at the Retallack Resort near Padstow in 2013, Nathan’s culinary expertise has been a significant draw for visitors to the area. His love of Cornwall shines through his cooking, with a St Ives holiday being his break of choice as reported in this recent article My Secret Westcountry.
“My first choice of location”
Speaking to Western Morning News, Nathan said, “I don't get an opportunity [for a weekend away] very often, but if I was going to go anywhere my first choice of location would be St Ives.” Next to his love of St Ives, Nathan also spoke of his sincere admiration for Cornish produce, the surf and beaches, all factors that bring families to Cornwall year after year.
Nathan is a regular guest at Cornish food festivals, where we have previously reported his attendance at Newquay Fish Festival. Despite his saying that The Rock Oyster Festival at Wadebridge is his favourite, ‘It's a really great event which brings together a love of Cornwall and its produce, as well as fun activities for all the family’, it is no secret that he is fond of attending any festival that celebrates great Cornish cooking.
So why not enjoy one of Nathan’s favourite pastimes and make the most of our Spring Bank Holiday accommodation offers? We have a great range available in St Ives and beyond where you can enjoying watching the Cornish sunset on a beach just like Nathan and even go and enjoy one of his delicious meals at The Green Room.
