The celebrated St Ives Food and Drink Festival is returning for its sixth year next month and is sure to be met with a bigger audience than ever before as festival organisers gear up to offer some exciting new developments to its programme.
Local chefs will be conducting cooking demos and there will be a range of stalls offering quality local Cornish produce, attracting people from across the country. It is recommended that those wishing to visit the festival book St Ives cottages in advance, as they are likely to sell out in the lead up to this immensely popular festival.
‘Gourmet mecca’
St Ives BID Manager Jess Golding said of the event in this article, “We are so proud to be supporting this vital event” and “St Ives is without a doubt a true gourmet mecca, perhaps most famous for such accessible abundant seafood… The Festival will, however, also see the showcasing of some fantastic local cheese producers, artisan bakers and handmade preserve companies amongst other food genres.”
The area is under no illusions that their gorgeous coastline is not the sole reason that so many visitors return to the area time and time again, as they are more than aware that Cornish cuisine is an increasingly attractive aspect for travelling foodies. Popular traders including the Kernow Sausage Company and St Ives Brewery are due to attend, and with plenty of other attractions scheduled to take place, it is promising to better last year’s offering.
The St Ives Food and Drink Festival is taking place over the 16th and 17th May, with entry costing just £2, under 12s going free.
