The Prime Minister loves Cornwall

The Prime Minister David Cameron has expressed his love of the southern county, Cornwall, in a recent article by the Cornish Guardian. Talking to the Cornish newspaper, Mr Cameron spoke about his long-established relationship with the county and how this has spurred him on to see Cornwall be the best it can be.

Talking at Downing Street, Cameron spoke of the need to increase mobile and broadband connections in Cornwall and the re-thinking of priorities over defence spending following the large expanse of flooding that took place over Devon, Somerset and Cornwall this year, both moves that would benefit locals and visitors alike.

“There’s nothing about it I don’t like”

When talking about Cornwall, Mr Cameron was all praise for the region’s coast and landscape saying “I love walking the coastal path. I love the pubs. I like the beer. There’s nothing about it I don’t like.”

The county seems to offer the perfect place for Cameron family holidays, just like the many who stay in St Ives family holiday cottages come to enjoy.

With Cameron’s second daughter Florence even having been born in Cornwall, in the county’s Truro hospital, the area remains a firm family favourite, Florence’s middle name is even taken from the Cornish village of St Endellion. The Prime Minister often thinks of his time in Cornwall, remembering family holidays fondly telling the Cornish Guardian that, “In Cornwall, I’m very active,” and “I spend a lot of time on the beach with the children. The thing I want to catch up on is spending time with the little ones. They love it so much, and they’re very happy there”.

Mr Cameron also praised the active lifestyle Cornwall’s picturesque landscape promotes, talking about the times he has enjoyed playing golf, tennis, walking, running and even giving one of the county’s favourite sports surfing a go. Cameron’s reason for visiting the southern county time and time again are so similar to that of so many families who have a love of Cornish holidays.
