Next Cornish summer set to be hottest yet

In the midst of reports of high flooding and predictions of snowfall across the UK hitting the media of late, it may be hard to comprehend that the hottest summer on record may be on the horizon. According to a study carried out by scientists in Germany, however, there is a 75 percent chance of Britain seeing exactly that in 2014.

The prediction comes from a study of the El Niño pattern, which scientists have said occurs when waters on the Pacific equator are unusually warm, resulting in disruptive changes in ocean and wind currents worldwide.

Scientists at Armin Bunde of Justus Liebig University in Giessen have speculated that visitors to coastal St Ives holiday cottages and other resorts throughout Britain could see improved weather this summer.

The Independent reported that the scientists have made these predictions by mapping links between the temperatures in the El Niño basin and the rest of the Pacific, which could lead to more holidaymakers booking up Cornish holiday cottages rather than flights abroad this year.
