St Ives app receives award

A recently developed smartphone app has won an award at this year’s South West Media Innovation Awards ceremony. The Walkabout St Ives app works by guiding people visiting the picturesque seaside town around the area’s historic landmarks and points of interest.

Having won the award for Best App, the company behind the development, Awen Productions, is now looking to release its next app, Walkabout West Cornwall, in order for others to enjoy the special experience visitors of St Ives cottages have been privy to. The app, which was first reported on in this previous Powells article, offers archive information about the local area, making it perfect for walks and tours of this coastal section of Cornwall.

Awen works closely with local organisations to ensure its information is relevant and accurate. Judges said that the Walkabout St Ives app is a “well-researched, well-organised app with a wealth of local and historic video content” in this article, making it a clear choice for the accolade.
