Rural area of West Cornwall protected after government grant

A rural area of West Cornwall has been made safe thanks to a lottery donation of £200,000: news which is being celebrated as a major triumph by the Cornish Wildlife Trust.

The trust has plans in place to purchase more than 80 acres of West Cornwall's rural landscape, and it is hoped that this deal will conserve the area for many years to come and further improve the diverse levels of wildlife which can be found in the region. With species such as the barn owl, otter, cuckoo and skylark all found there, the efforts to preserve rural parts of West Cornwall for the future are completely understandable.

The purchases will enable the creation of a brand new area between St Just and Newbridge. Called Bostraze Bog, it will cover more than 60 acres and should become home to a variety of wildlife including dragonflies, willow warblers and several species of butterfly.
