Procession of historical busses to feature in Cornwall

A great piece of Cornwall's history will be celebrated over the weekend, with a procession of vintage buses travelling across the route of the first Great Western Railway bus service.

First incepted back in 1903, the route has provided an integral service for so many people over the years, allowing people to travel easily between Helston and The Lizard. The Thames Valley & Great Western Omnibus Trust decided to commemorate the 110th anniversary of this great event in style, bringing the only restored GWR bus back onto the local roads for the first time since 1932.

The timeless vehicle will be joined by the Cornwall Bus Preservation Society's 1978 Bristol VR Double Decker, one which was painted in the GWR colours to feature in the centenary of the bus service in 2003.

The fleet will leave Helston Railway Station at 11.35am, stopping at the Top House Inn at the Lizard before travelling back to Helston at the scheduled time of 2.34pm.
