Cornwall artist shows work inspired by wildlife

Anyone who has travelled in Cornwall by train will be familiar with the stunning scenery. But have you ever noticed the wildlife – in particular, the fantastic diversity of birds – that can be seen from the carriage window? Cornwall artist Kim Pilgrim has. Her new array of work, called Birds From The Train, began when Kim decided to try and paint a bird she had seen on her regular journey from Redruth to St Ives. A series of 29 paintings followed.

Kim said: “I hope the work encourages people to look more at what’s going on outside the window, from the train or wherever you find yourself as our pathways frequently cross with animals and it’s fascinating to think what journey they are on as well as being privileged enough to see them in their natural habitat.”

For those enjoying a cottage holiday in Cornwall, Birds From The Train can be seen at Archie Browns, Kenwyn Street, Truro until October 1st.
