An elderly woman from Camborne has been dubbed the high priestess of pasty making after featuring on a television cookery show.
Eunice Woolcock captured the hearts of the nation in the regional heats of ITV's Food Glorious Food competition, creating the traditional Cornish snack. It was also a hit with the judges, with Tom-Parker Bowles in particular saying that hers was one of the greatest Cornish pasties he has ever eaten. Eunice even made her way to the semi-finals, replicating the dish 150 times for members of the WI to taste for a chance to go through to the grand final. While she didn't win, Eunice's journey in the competition has raised awareness of one of Cornwall's finest foods across the nation.
The pasty is a classic Cornish delicacy, one which recently obtained protected status. While Cornish pasties are found in supermarkets around the country, they promise to taste much better while you enjoy a stay in one of the Cornwall cottages this summer.
