The official city guide of Truro has been adorned by the work of contemporary Cornish artist Joanne Short in a move that has been very well received by both residents and tourists alike.

Commissioned by Truro City Council to capture in oils her interpretation of the city, Falmouth-based Joanne created the wonderful painting, entitled 'Blue Sky, Truro'.

Mayor of Truro Lindsay Southcombe called the painting 'absolutely stunning' and 'so clean and clear', and knew as soon as she saw it that she wanted to 'make sure it was shown off to the city'.

The painting now looks set to feature in the city's permanent art collection, after Truro City Council registered their interest in the work of art. It will initially be exhibited at the Truro Tourist Information Centre before being put on display in numerous locations.

Be sure to pick up your visitor guide of Truro before heading to the region and enjoying a vacation in one of the excellent Cornwall cottages this summer.
