Google recently released its annual Zeitgeist list, showing the top UK search terms for the year, and this year Cornwall was the 8th most popular destination search in the country.
The county beat the popular destinations of Barcelona and Edinburgh to 8th place and was only topped by one other UK destination: London. The top two spots on the list were taken up by the 2016 Olympics location, Rio de Janeiro, and the financially troubled Greece.
The search giant also released the top ten Google maps local places searches, which was distinctly holiday themed, with searches for 'camping', 'hotel' and 'accommodation' such as Cornwall cottages featuring in the top ten.
The inclusion of Cornwall in these lists is once again highlighting how popular the county has become with those looking for a UK break, a popularity that's bound to continue.
