Discover St Columb & Retallack

Eight miles inland from Newquay, the villages of Tregatillian, St Columb and Retallack can be found in the St Columb Major parish. This picturesque area near the North Cornwall coast is a quiet, patchwork of farmland just a stone's throw from the vibrant shops and Camel Trail cycling path in Wadebridge. The gastro delights of Padstow and the excellent surfing in Newquay are also within easy reach.

St Columb plays host to ‘hurling', a medieval game that is considered to be Cornwall's county game, on Shrove Tuesday and again 11 days later. The game of two teams involves several hundred people and is quite spectacular to watch.

Tregatillian is a hamlet east of St Columb, surrounded by picture-postcard countryside and abundant wildlife. As well as enjoying and exploring the tranquil, local surroundings you are less than six miles from Watergate Bay with Jamie Oliver's 15 Restaurant perched on the edge of the beach with amazing views of the sea. Watergate Bay plays host to a number of events throughout the year including polo on the beach in July and the Thunder Cat Racing World Championships in October.
