Praa Sands Cottages

The Cornish peninsula has many wonderful beaches to boast of, but Praa Sands is definitely among those worth a visit.  A long, sandy beach, which allows dogs out of season, it is popular with surfers and families alike, with a stretch of golden sand a mile long, making it perfect for sandcastle competitions!

The beach is also well served for eateries, with the Beachcomber cafe and the Sandbar restaurant sitting just behind the dunes.  At low tide you can go along the coast path and get to Kenneggy Beach to the west, another little-known gem.  On the green at Praa Sands is a monument, unveiled in June 2013, as a memorial to the crew of a Sunderland flying boat bomber, that landed on the beach in 1943, having been damaged in battle.  The local people showed the crew the famous Cornish hospitality, taking them in and treating their injuries.
