For over 25 years, Cornish Horizons has been successfully letting holiday cottages throughout Cornwall. Not only are we committed to offering the highest possible levels of customer service to our guests, we also strive to maintain a friendly, yet professional service to all our homeowners.

Jim and Louise Sutherland are two of the newest owners to join our portfolio and together own the beautiful Guinevere in Fowey. We wanted to know what they thought of our service so far and what made them choose to become holiday home owners.

What made you choose Cornish Horizons to be your agent?

We were impressed by the assistance and support we received from Annabel on our first meeting. We also liked the fact that Cornish Horizons have a large presence on Social Media and strong advertising in all the right places. The back up services Cornish Horizons can offer is also excellent – as is having a local office we can pop into.

What have you enjoyed about our service so far?

We really like the Home Owners Log In which gives us clear up to date information on bookings for our property . It also makes it very easy to book Guinevere out for ourselves and our friends and family. We also like the flexibility of booking short stays or lower occupancy when appropriate. The photos and description of our house are excellent and the Cornish Horizons website is modern and clear. Additionally we have got off to an excellent start with our bookings.

What was it that first inspired you to start letting Guinevere?

We have successfully been running a holiday home in Scotland for several years and were keen to do the same by the sea in the West Country.  We wanted somewhere to go to with our Grandson but also for others to enjoy. We didn’t want Guinevere standing empty for several weeks and would rather have holiday makers staying  at our house and enjoying the shops and restaurants in Fowey. Its important to us that our Holiday Let is part of the community.

What advice do you have for potential property owners who are thinking about holiday letting?

Keep on top of the maintenance on your property but be prepared for a certain amount of wear and tear. Make the house homely and try to buy new furniture rather than using old sofas etc from other houses – it rarely looks good. Consider taking dogs if you can – in our experience they are no problem!

If you have a holiday property, or are considering letting, feel free to contact the property team anytime for an informal chat on 01841 533331.
