Dog Friendly - Bring Your Best Friend on Holiday

We know how important it is for people to be able to bring their pets on holiday.

So we always suggest to cottage owners that accepting pets is a good idea and you will find a large number of our cottages where pets are welcomed (there is normally a small extra charge).

Pets welcome cottages

You can view all our dog friendly cottages here or, alternatively, you can use the ‘Quick Search' box on the homepage - just tick 'Accept Pets' and select any other options you require for your holiday.

What to pack...

Please don't use things from your holiday cottage!

Please bring with you:

  • Bedding
  • Food and drink bowls
  • Towels
  • Brush

Enclosed Garden

If a property is described as having an enclosed garden, it is not necessarily pet-proof (nor, for that matter, child-proof!).

Walkies

As pet owners ourselves we know the pleasure of walking the coastal path or running on the beach with our dog. An evening stroll along the lane or round the town is also a relaxing end to the day.

Before deciding to bring your pet in the summer you should bear in mind that they are not permitted on many beaches at this time. For further info please contact the local Tourist Information Centre.See the visitor guide for dog owners for advice on bringing your dog on holiday to Cornwall.

Sand and mud

Most dogs love mud and sand but not as much as mud and sand love your dog!

If your dog shakes on command (you lucky people!) then getting them to do this before you get back to your cottage is a great idea. If not, perhaps give them a quick towel down or groom instead (again, before you get back to your cottage!).

Home alone

Your dog may be fine on its own at home but in a strange house they can get a bit distressed.  So do not leave them in the cottage on their own in case of damage or barking.  Remember, you can use our Holiday Extras scheme to get discounts on pet sitting services!

Also, cleaning hair and dirt off floors and carpets is a lot easier than cleaning it off furniture and beds. So please do not allow pets on furniture or in bedrooms.

After your stay

Before you leave please make sure you check the garden and outside spaces for accidents.

It's not the cleaner's job to clear the garden so please make sure you check before you leave - the people holidaying after you will appreciate it!

General info

Usually the maximum number of pets allowed is two but in some properties it is restricted to one.

Please let us know if you have more than 2 dogs and we will gladly contact the owner of the cottage you are interested in to see if bringing more than 2 dogs is possible.

Of course, most properties will accept an assistance dog although regrettably this is not possible in all. Don't forget to include them on the booking form!

Cottages that do not take pets

Finally, if you are looking for a property which does not accept pets, perhaps for health reasons, please don't assume that there has never been a pet at a particular property.

If this is important to you, please check with us first so that we can make enquiries on your behalf.  Cottages that do not allow pets
