Cycling

Enjoy Cornwall's beautiful countryside at your own pace. Here’s some suggested cycle trails that we think you will love.

  • The Camel Trail - Arguably the most successful recreational multi use trail in the UK. 18 miles between Wenfordbridge, Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow (and almost completely level!).
  • The North Cornwall Trail - Follows The Camel Trail out of Bodmin and continues into Camelford and then Bude.  It eventually wends its way to Devon.  Discover pretty little villages, stunning scenery and hidden corners.
  • The Clay Trails - A series of trails around the town of St Austell, its surrounding villages and The Eden Project.  They take you through the striking and dramatic scenery of the old china clay mining area.
Fishing

Fancy fishing? Cornwall has a wide variety of fabulous fishing spots.  Whether you want to hire some equipment and fish off the harbour wall or splash out on a boat trip, Cornwall has it all.

Boat trips

Wreck and reef fishing trips, shark fishing trips and mackerel fishing trips.  Once you've caught your fish all you need to do is find a local chip shop and you're sorted!

Golfing

Cornwall is home to a fantastic selection of unique golf courses, including the UK's most southerly course, which is set in St Mullion and the Cape Cornwall Golf Course that was designed during 1990 by Bob Hamilton who also designed further courses in Scotland and Singapore. This imaginative course features impressive views and tricky natural hazards, making it a real joy to play. Alternatively, if you are looking for a real challenge, you can pit your skills against the West Cornwall Golf Course, where games are played in winds of up to anything between a light breeze to force 9 gusts!  

  • St Austell Golf Club - located near St Austell on the Cornish Riviera.  Offers a warm and friendly welcoming atmosphere, and a course that appeals to golfers of all levels.
  • Perranporth Golf Club - located at Perranporth with stunning sea views.
  • Budock Vean Spa & Golf Course - located near Helford, it offers a unique and personal approach to spa treatments. A 9 hole, 18 tee parkland course open to visitors all year.
  • Newquay Golf Club - located in the town of Newquay overlooking the world famous Fistral Bay.
  • Trevose Golf & Country Club - located at Constantine Bay near Padstow.  Great sea views, a great clubhouse
  • St Enodoc Golf Club - located near Rock, a short ferry trip from Padstow, St Enodoc has one of the finest links golf courses in the South West of England. 
  • Merlin Golf and Country Club - located at Mawgan Porth on the north coast between Padstow and Newquay.  Amazing sea views.  Stay at the Merlin Golf Club with Cornish Horizons and get free golf between October and May and discounts at other times of the year.  Merlin Apartment 1 sleeping 2, Merlin Apartment 2 sleeping 4/6 and Merlin Apartment 3 sleeping 4/6.
  • St Mellion Golf Club - located in Saltash. With its two spectacular championship golf courses St Mellion firmly secures it's position as the best venue for golf in Cornwall and as one of Europe's premier golf resorts.
  • Cape Cornwall - located in St Just. This 70 par golf course is 5680 yards long and has 18 holes to play which challenges club golfers and low handicap golfers as well.
  • The Point - located at St Minver near Wadebridge.  Views of wooded valleys, streams and the sea beyond.  There's a gym, spa, beauty salon and tennis courts.

There is no better way to truly appreciate the Cornish countryside than on horseback. Whether you are cantering across the moors, trekking through woodland trails, or exploring winding lanes, horse riding gives you the opportunity to explore a hidden side of Cornwall which you might not otherwise experience - why not give it a try?

Zip wire
Cornwall is home to the longest zip wire in England.  Spanning the width of the 35 acre pit in which the giant Eden Project biomes are sited, this amazing experience takes in view of the quarry, the surrounding countryside and the biomes themselves.  Alternatively travel down a 490 metre long zip wire at 40 mph a whopping 50 metres from the ground at the Adrenalin Quarry near Liskeard in South Cornwall.

Surfing

Surf's up! Visit Cornwall for the ultimate surfing experience.

Cornwall is arguably the best surfing destination in the UK and one of the best in the world. From fantastic family surfing beaches like Widemouth Bay near Bude to world class pro surfing beaches like Fistral Bay in Newquay, Cornwall has a beach to suit you.

The north coast is generally regarded as the best for surfing but you can often catch some great waves on the south coast too. Hire a board and hit the waves or get some expert tuition. The choice is yours! If you are thinking about surfing lessons, here are some of our favourite companies:

Walking

Enjoy Cornwall's beautiful countryside at your own pace. Here are some of our favourite walks:

  • South West Coast Path - Incredibly varied trail hugging the coast around the South West. The section along the dramatic Cornish coastline is 300 miles long.
  • The Saint's Way - This trail takes you through valleys, woodlands, pastures, moors and villages and covers 30 miles from Padstow to Fowey.
  • The Camel Trail - Arguably the most successful recreational multi use trail in the UK. 18 miles between Wenfordbridge, Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow.
  • The Clay Trails - A series of trails around the town of St Austell, its surrounding villages and The Eden Project. They take you through the striking and dramatic scenery of the old china clay mining area.
  • The Smugglers' Way - A much more ambitious route requiring navigation and compass reading skills. The challenging walk takes you from Boscastle on the north coast to Looe on the south across the stunning moors of Bodmin.
