The best way to spend a long weekend in Cornwall

There’s nothing quite like a long weekend away to Cornwall to recover from a busy Christmas and there’s some great price tags to be had with a winter getaway. With its golden sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, picturesque harbours and wild moorland, exploring Cornwall’s scenery will reinvigorate and recharge you ready for the year ahead.
As for the foodies amongst us, whether it’s a pub lunch at the Godolphin Arms in Marazion as you overlook the famous St Michael’s Mount causeway, or a freshly landed catch of the day at Fistral’s Fish House, it’s just too easy to get an authentic Cornish fest.

Friday 1:
After your drive down, you’ll probably be keen to relax over that crisp, cold glass of wine and take a deep breath of the clean, fresh Cornish air around you. So whether it’s the award winning Sam’s Restaurant in Fowey or the cosy Shipwright Arms in Helford village, here’s a few restaurants you might want to book in advance to kick start your weekend.
Saturday 2:
There’s nothing quite like a coastal walk to soak up Cornwall and with routes along the South West coast path that are accessible to people of all abilities, it’s the perfect plan for a Saturday. You can read here for some of our favourite walking routes, picnic spots and pubs you can pop into along the way.
Instead of a walk you might fancy a visit to stylish St Ives or Padstow to spend a few hours window shopping and tucking into a scrumptious Cornish cream tea to the backdrop of a pretty fishing harbour.
Sunday 3:
On your way home, drop into The Eden Project for a couple of hours and spoil yourself with a spot of lunch, all locally sourced. With its two gigantic biomes one tropical and the other Mediterranean, enjoy a taste of a warmer, milder climate that awaits us all in a few short months. For the budding Monty Don amongst us, the biomes sport plants from across the world including those well adapted to our own garden to inspire your spring gardening plans for the rest of your drive home. Eden also hosts England’s longest and fastest zip wire to keep the kids (big and small) buzzing about their mini adventure for weeks to come.
