We’re proud to announce that we are the major sponsor of the 2nd annual St Ives Shanty Shout. There are over 20 groups taking part in the festival including Cape Cornwall singers, The Pirates of St Piran, Bamaluz Bootleggers and many more. The event which will take place on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th November in a range of venues across the town, including The Castle Inn and The Golden Lion, is likely to be another huge success.

The Shanty Shout is a charity event with all funds raised for Children’s Hospice South West and The RNLI. Cornish Horizons supports many local charities but this is the first time we have joined up with the St Ives Shanty Shout.

General Manager, Gemma Brown says “We are thrilled to support such a great local charity event in St Ives. With our office on St Andrew’s Street in St Ives it felt like the perfect match. Here at Cornish Horizons we are always keen to support similar local events taking place throughout our county, especially when it involves raising money for charity.”

Gemma continues “As well as sponsoring the event, we’re keen to encourage new supporters to the festival, so are offering £50 discount on our St Ives properties over that weekend.”

The festival name, St Ives Shanty Shout comes from the Cornish tradition of singing sessions in pubs. Trevor Woodyatt, one of the organisers of the St Ives Shanty Shout, states “I am extremely grateful to all who have helped me to organise the shout and was delighted when Cornish Horizons agreed to sponsor the event. I never believed that a few songs with friends in a local pub would revive a rich tradition back to St Ives”.

If you’re interested in booking accommodation over the Shanty Shout weekend, please visit www.cornishhorizons.co.uk/seasonal-availability/st-ives-shanty-shout to view availability in St Ives and quote SS50 to enjoy a £50 discount over the weekend too.
